have been bored with covid shit and waiting for the NFL, started a Vegan diet and feel a bit better. cut out dairy, meat, etc. I’m enjoying it thus far, but i’m sure I will get drunk one of these nights and say f*** it.

Yup, did it strict for a year. Felt great. Have eased up a bit on it but I did enjoy it. With 2 young kids and work it got too time consuming to do it but still eat mostly dairy free but I like a steak from time to time or some seafood. Key is new meals cause after a few months I was cooking the same things all the time and got bored of it.

5+ years and I love it. Don’t consider myself A vegan because I consume honey. Not much for the labels anyway. The biggest thing to stay away from no matter what diet you follow is processed foods. That and sugary drinks are Americas downfall.

I agree, not one for labels either seems to turn people off. I tell people just eating more Plant Based.

absolutely. vegan does not mean healthy and most people get stuck on that. plenty of vegan junk food out there but if your eating fresh fruits and vegetables and avoiding the processed food your good to go.

i live at the beach and cant pass up fresh seafood and love grilling out so a good steak is just fun with friends while having a beer. i have done well to avoid the cheese, sour cream and other dairy products which really give no health benefit in any way. im not strict though and will have a pizza at times simply cause i like it.

Most people need some animal protein, I know people who were strictly vegan/vegetarian and after many years became weak, even ill.

MD told them to stay vegan/veggie primarily, sure, but doctor's orders, also have some animal protein every day, fish like salmon, turkey, chicken, that kind of low fat protein, stay away from red meats except for social occasions.

Not strict. Have friends that are vegan. Some of the best chili,lasagna,and other things I've eaten. It really isn't that big of a deal to try it. Morningstar farms has quite a few things I like along with Amy brand.

The real problem is the fake meats. They’re an abomination.

general rule of thumb, if the ingredient ends in a-t-e you probably shouldn’t e-a-t it. Most of those have isolates which the body looks at like a toxin

If it wasn't illegal I would probably give vegan meat a try. Kinda like grass fed beef I imagine.

gl to you. what changes r u looking for? My 2-cents;

many ways to skin a cat as they say. If over time you're good with it, then cool. A vegan diet can be deficient of minerals/vitamins , so you may want to read up on it, see if u need supplements.

another way to press the re-set button, is with a very low carb diet. A diet much richer in fats/protein. Or if u really want to shock the body going keto, then transitioning into low carb. The best diet to lose weight/maintain health is the one that yuo'll likely maintain longterm -- making keto not a realistic option, imo. Vegan? they are almost like a cult and its is a huge money-making industry, may work for ya.

the benefits of a low-carb diet are set in stone , data is very clear- weight loss, better blood profile (sugar/trigyerides/cholesterol ); decreasing risk of chronic disease specifically diabetes, hypertension. If your goal is wieght loss, and u have issues sleeping (snore/tired mid day) then strongly consider seeing your doc, a PSG is a test (the gold standard) in diagnosing sleep apnea; if yuo're mod to severe its an uphill battle with diet alone in gaining an appropriate body weight

super cool study

https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa0708681

comparing the 3, the low-carb diet lost weight the fastest AND maintained it the best over the 2-yr period.
